Protocol summary

Summary
Zonisamaide drug known as an anticonvulsant drug with a wide spectrum of function. Zonisamaide is effective in controlling of partial and generalized seizures.Pregabalin has anticonvulsant effect like Gabapentine. In previous studies what has been less evaluated is that these two drugs did not compared in view of their efficacy on pediatric interactable epilepsy. In this study ninty six children with seizures which admitted to Mofid Children Hospital and despite taking two or three anti-seizure medication, have uncontrolled seizure ,and have no neurodegenerative diseases has been randomly divided into two groups and the first group will be treated with Zonisamaide while the second group will be treated with Pregabalin and after one month and six months since drug starting reduction of the frequency and severity of seizures are analyzed. During the follow-up over fifty percent reduction in seizure frequency or severity is known as a response to drug .

Description
Ninety six children with seizures which admitted to Mofid children hospital and despite taking two or three anti-seizure medication, have uncontrolled seizure and have no neurodegenerative diseases has been randomly divided into two groups (1 and 2) and the group 1 will be treated with Zonisamaide oraly with dose of 2 - 12 miligram per kilogram daily and after one month and six months since drugs starting reduction of the frequency and severity of seizures are analyzed and compared with group 2. During the follow-up over fifty percent reduction in seizure frequency or severity is known as a response to drug .
