A comparative study of the effect of Rosmarinus officinalis and cacao on occupational burnout of Iran Chemical Industry Investment company’s employees in Isfahan in 2013
Introduction: Burnout is one of the most important problems employees encounter and by which many health problems arise to be dealt with by the employees and the owners in the industry (Mercedes, 2011). Amongst many different ways of dealing with this problem, herbal therapy seems to be a promising solution (Robbins2012&Doolaege, 2012).
Objectives: The present study intends to compare the effect of RosmarinusOfficinalis(RO) and Cacao(Ca) on burnout in employees who work in industrial environments.
Method: An experimental study will be performed to see whether or not RO and Ca have an effect on burnout. A number of 96 employees, aged between 20 and 60, who have worked at least 1 year in the technical wards of Iran Chemical Industry Investment Company(ICIIC), will take part in the study. The participants will be randomly assigned to three groups of control (n=32), RO (n=32), and Ca (n=32). The RO group will receive 4 gr of Rosemary in 150cc water, and the Ca group 5 gr of cacao in150cc water per day for 2 months(except Thursdays and Fridays). The control group, on the other hand, will not receive anything. The data will be collected via Geldard (1989) Burnout Inventory before and after the treatment. A t–test will be conducted to analyze the collected data.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Subjects who wants to take part in this study should bear in mind the following criteria. In case any participant feels the termination of such terms during the study, should let the researcher knows and quit the study.
1. Involving in technical affairs only.
2. Working in daytime.
3. Experiencing no lifetime stressors such as loss of the beloved, divorce, any kind of tragic incidents in the past year.
4. Willing and motivated to take part in the study.
5. Having one- year work experience in one of the Iran Chemical Industry Investment Company (ICIIC) technical divisions.
6. Having exposed to industrial stressors such as noise pollution, environmental pollutants, machinery and tools.
7. Having no coronary heart diseases record in the ICIIC medical center as well as no record of taking drugs that affect these diseases.
8. Using no blood-pressure and/or heart - operation affecting drugs.
9. Having no psychiatric-disorder record as well as no record of taking drugs that affect it in accordance with his/her personal medical documens.
