The aim of study was determine effect treatment of vitamin D deficiency on mortality rate of children admitted to the intensive care unit of Tabriz Pediatric Hospital.
From children that admitted in the intensive care unit, Venous blood samples were collected for determine serum level of 25(oh)-vitamin.
Serum level of 25(oh)-vitamin determine by Elisa methods.
100 children with vitamin D deficiency selected and underwent treatment with vitamin D and from other patient’s, 100 children without vitamin D deficiency enrolled as the control group.
Mortality rate of patient with and without vitamin D treatment evaluated.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: admitted in neonate intensive care unit; patients with Vitamin D deficiency. Exclusion criteria: patients who died at first 24 hour of admission or transfer to other wards; lack of parental consent to participate in the study; patients with hypocalcaemia; patients with renal stone.
