Protocol summary

Study aim
Evaluation of the effect of Thyme oxymel on respiratory symptoms and spirometry test results in patients with cystic fibrosis
Design
Randomized, parallel clinical trial with control group, triple blinded, phase 3 on 50 patients. Excel software rand function was used for randomization.
Settings and conduct
Samples will be selected among cystic fibrosis (CF) referrals to the CF clinic of Akbar Hospital in Mashhad. The drug or placebo is added to the main drug of the selected patients for 8 weeks by a pediatric pulmonologist. Changes in clinical signs, spirometry parameters, and Impedance Ocsillometry (IOS) results are measured in patients. Patients, the physician who assigns samples to groups, and the data analyzer are blinded.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Cystic fibrosis patients aged 5-18 who have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis by a specialist doctor and are being treated at home; Exclusion criteria: History of allergy to thyme, vinegar, or honey; consumption of systemic corticosteroid by the patient; Patients needing hospitalization
