The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of emotionally focused couples therapy (EFCT) on interpersonal forgiveness and cognitive flexibility in couples.
Design
Randomized controlled clinical trial on 30 participants. A simple random method (coin toss) will be used for randomization.
Settings and conduct
The current research was of an applied type and from the point of view of the semi-experimental implementation method with a pre-test-post-test design and a control group with a one-month follow-up period. The statistical population was all the couples who referred to counseling clinics and psychological services in Semirom city due to marital conflicts in 1402
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
The criteria for entering the research include the existence of conflict between couples, having a married life history of at least 2 years and at most 15 years, the level of education at least a diploma, the ability to attend 8 training sessions, the absence of other psychological disorders, and the absence of psychological and drug treatments in It was during the last year. Also, the criteria for leaving the research included the legal divorce of the couple, having more than two absences, non-cooperation and not doing the homework specified in the class, and not agreeing to continue attending the treatment process.
Intervention groups
In the beginning, 30 couples (based on the G*Power model) were selected by available sampling method, after initial screening (marital conflict test, clinical/diagnostic interview) by clinical psychologists of the centers, finally randomly (coin toss). In two experimental groups, 15 couples and control group were replaced with 15 couples
