Protocol summary

Study aim
Determining the effect of geometric patterns on students' psychological capital and happiness
Design
Trial with control group, with parallel groups, single-blind, randomized, on 84 nursing students. Random block method was used for randomization through www.randomizer.org.
Settings and conduct
The research community is nursing students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1402. Concealment of the random allocation of samples from the researcher will be done using dark envelopes.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Study inclusion criteria: at least 6 months are left until the end of the education of nursing students; having a smart mobile phone with Android operating system; the ability to use a mobile phone application. Non-inclusion criteria: failure to participate in similar training courses; failure to view more than 20% of the content provided by the mobile application; the student has been under severe stress in the last 3 months; students have experienced a mental crisis in the past 3 months. students with psychological disorders; students using psychiatric drugs, including anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs.
Intervention groups
The intervention group receives images containing geometric motifs through an offline mobile phone application. The content presented includes images of geometric motifs and patterns from simple to complex along with short text explanations about each of the images; It will be provided to the students of the intervention group on a daily basis through a mobile phone application for one month. In the control group, there is no intervention; But at the end of the research, the content presented to the intervention group will be available to the participants of this group as well.
Main outcome variables
Students' feeling of happiness; students' psychological capital

Randomization description
Random allocation will be done by the block random method through www.randomizer.org. In this way, after entering the desired site and based on the sample size, 21 blocks of 4 will be randomly selected, and according to random sequences (for example, AACC) in each block, the research samples will be divided into two Intervention group (A) and control group (B) will be allocated. Finally, to hide the obtained sequences, dark colored envelopes will be used as many samples.
Blinding (investigator's opinion)

Intervention groups

1

Description
Intervention group: After obtaining informed consent from the research samples, the research tools (including happiness tool, psychological capital tool and demographic characteristics questionnaire) are completed by both groups, and then the intervention group will see images containing geometric patterns by They receive the phone application .Features of the application: it means software, application software, computer program that is used for use in smartphones. Application or App for short is more common than the word "software" and this word means exactly the same as "application software" (62). The mobile phone application used in this research is designed and implemented by the researcher using Java programming language by Android Studio. This offline application can be installed on the Android operating system. The provided content includes (colorful and clear) images of geometric motifs and patterns along with short text explanations about each of the images; During the period of one month, daily (30 sessions in total) will be presented to the students of the intervention group by the mobile application. Viewing the images in each session is estimated to be about 15 minutes. The way of designing and arranging the images ranges from simple to complex geometric patterns It will be presented in seven educational chapters (part 1: introduction and basic geometric patterns, part 2 to 7 advanced geometric patterns). The images of each session will be accompanied by short text explanations related to the images A traditional wordless music will be played with pictures (generally strings and three strings). If he doesn't arrive and doesn't choose the "confirmation of study" option that will appear at the end of the session, the next week's content will not be shown to him The mobile application platform is loaded. It is mandatory to watch the short film that will be shown for the purpose of reviewing the content presented for the week. In order to remind the students of the intervention group to view the images on the appointed days, the reminder warning message is played by the application. Before the intervention of the research objectives, the way to access the researcher for questions and answers and to resolve possible ambiguities and how to install and use the application will be done exclusively for the intervention group. After installing the application for intervention group students, the researcher will enter the access code for the test subjects.the research team to prevent the access of the control group to the application space and the provided contents related to geometric motifs; In order to install the application for each group, a special login code has been considered, which will be entered only by the researcher. In addition, it will not be possible to download and record the images and clips in the application. Also, at the end of each week, in order to ensure that the pictures are viewed, individually and for each student of the intervention group, a follow-up SMS is done. The design and collection of images containing geometric motifs has been done with the consultation and cooperation of the professors of the University of Arts (Traditional Design). To collect geometric patterns, it will be one of the reliable sources of the Ministry of Islamic Guidance (including Iran's tiling works, the second book of Knotting). Validity of the content of geometric motifs including the images and clips produced (which is a summary of the images presented during the week and is uploaded at the end of each week for the purpose of review and reminder) was also approved by 10 members of the academic staff of the University of Arts and Sciences. Nursing and Midwifery of Tehran University of Medical Sciences will arrive. Also, the general structure and technical features of the mobile phone application, how to arrange the images in each week, the sequence of images and other related visual features, were evaluated by a number of experts in the IT field and professors of the Department of Art and Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. will be placed and the reliability of the application will be checked on all types of mobile phones with Android operating system. Immediately after the intervention and one and a half months after the end of the intervention, the post-test will be done in the intervention and control groups with the electronic completion of happiness tools and psychological capital tools. The way to complete the questionnaires by the research samples will be self-reporting. Data analysis will be done using SPSS version 16 software in two parts, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.
