Determining the effect of eye care multimedia training on the clinical competence of nurses in eye care of patients under mechanical ventilation
Design
A clinical trial with a control group, with parallel groups, one blind strain, on 90 nurses. For randomization, numbers 1 to 4 were given to each of the intensive care units and 2 departments were selected by lottery.
Settings and conduct
Eligible nurses in the intensive care units of Imam Hossein and Luqman Hakim hospitals in Tehran, who will be placed in two control and intervention groups in order to prevent the leakage of educational information from separate departments, and the evaluation of the nurses' performance by the help of a researcher who does not know about the random allocation of groups; will be done
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Having at least a degree in nursing and anesthesiology؛
Having 6 months of work experience in the intensive care unit؛ Willingness to participate in the research؛ is the criteria for entering the study.
Transfer from the intensive care unit or hospital؛ incomplete questionnaire؛ withdrawal during the study are the exclusion criteria.
Intervention groups
Before the intervention, the knowledge and attitude of the nurses in eye care will be completed through a questionnaire in the form of self-evaluation and their performance will be completed in the form of a checklist by attending of the intensive care unit . Then, the multimedia training video will be provided to the nurses of the intervention group. The control group will not receive any training. 2 weeks after the multimedia training, the same questionnaire and performance checklist will be completed again in both groups, and at the end, the eye care clinical competence score will be compared in the control and intervention groups.

The checklist of the performance of nurses in eye care will be done by a research assistant who does not know about the allocation of the control and intervention groups in the intensive care unit ( ICU ) after being placed in the rotation shifts.

The multimedia training video created by the researcher will include texts, slides, images, audio, and video in a duration of 7 minutes. The validity of the educational content for compilation and final modification was reviewed by clinical experts consisting of special care faculty members, anesthesiologists and ophthalmologists.

Description
After attracting the cooperation of the nurses and explaining the research procedures, the virtual link of the eye care questionnaire, which contains knowledge and attitude questions, will be available to the nurses, and the performance of the nurses will be graded anonymously by the help of the researcher after being placed in the rotating shifts. . The multimedia educational video created by the researcher will be available to the nurses of the intervention group and a copy of it will be stored in the educational computer of the intensive care unit. The training of this group will be followed by making phone calls to the nurses and explaining the importance of watching the video. 2 weeks after the multimedia training, the link of the same questionnaire will be provided to the nurses and their performance will be scored with an observation checklist. At the end, their clinical competence score will be compared with the control group.
