Determining the effectiveness of nurse-patient communication skill training on nurses' competence and lost care in the emergency department
Design
A randomized clinical trial with control and control groups, the number of samples in each group is 30, is used for randomization by lottery.
Settings and conduct
By referring to the emergency department of a military hospital, according to the inclusion criteria, nurses are selected and divided into two test and control groups by random allocation method. First, in both groups, demographic characteristics are checked and standard questionnaires of forgotten nursing care and clinical nursing qualification are completed. In the intervention group, we teach nurse-patient communication skills. No special action is taken for the control group. After one month, questionnaires will be completed again by both intervention and control groups.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Entry criteria: *Not having a history of participating in a similar research *Written informed consent *Entry of participating nurses with at least six months of nursing in the emergency department
Exclusion criteria: *Incomplete participation of nurses in completing the questionnaires or failure to participate in a quarter of the training sessions.
Intervention groups
Intervention group: emergency department nurses who receive training in nurse-patient communication skills in the form of a four-hour workshop. Control group: emergency department nurses who do not receive any training. The pre-test is done at the beginning of the work and the post-test is done after one month after holding the training program in both intervention and control groups.
Main outcome variables
The amount of missing nursing care and the professional competence of nurses

Randomization (investigator's opinion)
Randomized
Randomization description
Nurses eligible to enter the emergency department will be randomly assigned to intervention and control groups using blocks of 4. We will create 6 blocks in the following order: AABB (1), ABAB (2), ABBA (3), BBAA (4), BABA (5), and BAAB (6). Each block will dictate treatment assignments: for example, if block 1 is selected, the first patient will receive treatment A, the second treatment B, the third treatment A, and the fourth treatment B. From there, the fifth patient will be randomly assigned from one of the blocks, and treatments for patients five to eight will follow the chosen block's pattern until sampling concludes.

Description
Intervention group: A four-hour training program (two four-hour sessions, training on nurse-patient communication) will be held for emergency department nurses (intervention group). In this workshop, the content of teaching nurse-patient communication skills will be taught with the aim of improving the level of knowledge, attitudes and skills of nurses in the field of effective communication with patients, improving nursing performance and improving the quality of care. The questionnaires will be completed by them at the beginning of the study and one month after the end of the intervention. Educational content will be provided to the intervention group. The phone number of the researcher will be given to the intervention group so that they can contact the researcher in case of any problem and follow up.
