Goal: to investigate the effect of life skills training on parenting stress of elementary school blind children's mothers in Shourideh Shirazi institution in Shiraz; 2014.
this study is a randomized controled trial study.participants (n=57) are randomly assigned into two groups( intervention and control). Randomization was done through block randomization size 4.the questionnaire of Parenting Stress Index completed by the memebers of control and intervention groups, then intervention group attended 5 sessions of life skills training but control group didn't. immediately and one month after intervention PSI questionnaires completed by the two groups. Inclusion criteria: mother should have a blind chlid from the age group of 7 to 12 years old; she should live in Shiraz; be inclined to attend the educational sessions; be able to participate the sessions.
Exclusion criteria : mother of the blind child has taken part in life skills training sessions before; be absent more than two sessions of educational plan; dispenses with participating in this study in every stage of it; uses medication for a psychologiacal diagnosis.
intervetion was a course of 5 session, each session 120 minutes, one session a week. we used a criteria in which WHO, UNICEF and UNESCO have listed ten skills for life skills education. we expect that the mean of Parenting Stress score becomes statistically meaningful different immediately and 1 month after intervention for intervention group members.
