Study aim

The overall purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of virtual education of emotional intelligence components' on the perceived stress and communication skills in nursing students.

Design

The present study is an interventional study with pre and post design. The research population is all undergraduate nursing students of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences who have entered the university in 2016. They are divided into two groups of intervention and control using permuted block randomization method.

Education is done by using skype program.

Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Undergraduate student of nursing at Shiraz University of medical sciences;being at fourth academic year;Willing to participate in the study. Non-inclusion criteria: Has passed an emotional intelligence training workshop in the past year;In the last 6 months a severe crisis such as divorce itself,Divorce of parents, or close relatives has occurred;Have a history of mental illness or use of drugs related to mental illness (according to self-report).

Intervention group: Implementation of intervention as an emotional intelligence virtual workshop in two sessions. Control group: the control group received no training.

The researcher provides a list of the volunteers who have the inclusion criteria for the study. Then, she set half of the entering undergraduate nursing students of the year 2016 in the intervention group and the rest of them in the control group by the use of permuted block randomization method.
